Hi Nyssa,
In past years, you could drive up to Prato Piazza before 10 am or after 3 pm (outside of peak season). The toll road was always closed between 10 am and 3 pm. Usually, you have to pay a toll fee of 10 EUR (cash only). The 40 EUR combi ticket only applies to high season (July 10 – September 10). If you arrive between 10 am and 3 pm, you have to park at the Parkplatz Brückele and take a bus up to the plateau. The regulations, times, and toll fees keep changing each year. So, I would reach out to the Braies/Prags tourist office to confirm.
To be on the safe side, I would drive up to Prato Piazza before 9 am on October 27th.

From reading your blogs, is it correct that in late October I can drive up to Prato Piazza car park with my rental car and park there without having to purchase 40 Euro ticket from prags.bz/en/plaetzwiese? Reading other blogs, they seem to say that I have to park at the bottom of the valley at Parkplatz Bruckele and take a shuttle to the Prato Piazza bus stop. Just want to confirm which information is correct. I’ll be traveling there on October 27. Thank you so much for your blog and help!
